The Empire State

Welcome to New York City, the city that never sleeps. Last time I was focused on events going on in Chicago, Illinois this time we are traveling to the east coast. This is my favorite place and not only because I was born here but because it is so lively, all the lights, the city noise and the excitement all around. If this is your first time here I will guide you to some places all tourists should visit.

1.      Statue of Liberty
Statue of Liberty

You can not come to New York and not visit the Statue of Liberty. A little fun fact: The Statue of Liberty celebrates her birthday on October 28th. It was meant to be! If you are currently in the city or traveling towards it you came in the right time because we are just a few days away from her birthday. Now I must warn you that when visiting the statue you will have to climb 354 stairs to reach the crown, but let me tell you it is definitely worth it. If you like to plan ahead and create an itinerary or are interested in how much it is to go see this beauty I encourage you to visit their website. Pose, take pictures and wish her a happy birthday!

2.      Central Park

Central Park is stunningly beautiful this time of year. The change of colors in the leaves bring more life to the city. It can be such a romantic atmosphere or you can enjoy it with friends and family. The cool thing about Central Park is that there are experiences within itself. This includes a zoo, a lake to do some peddling and Belvedere Castle. If that is not enough, Central Park also hosts events! I recommend checking out the Halloween Pumpkin Flotilla event on October 28, 2018. It is free so bring the family and some carved out pumpkins so they can be displayed on the flotilla (a small parade of Jack-O’-Lanterns).

3.      Empire State Building

At 381 meters tall, this is one of the most famous landmarks in New York City. With two observatories you can witness what the city has to offer. The Empire State Building has the 86th Floor Observatory which is an open-air observation deck but if you aren’t afraid of heights go for the Top Deck on the 102nd Floor which is only 1,250 feet above ground, no biggie. The thing I love most about the views is that you can see as far as 80 miles! That means you are able to see neighboring states like New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. That’s a view you’ll never forget.
