5 Must-Visit Places in Washington

We’re traveling from the East Coast all the way to the West Coast. Welcome to Washington State!

Washington State has it all from beautiful sceneries to music, technology, seafood, art, and my favorite…Starbucks! Fun Fact: The Starbucks, the largest coffee chain was founded in Seattle. Besides having great coffee shops, Washington has so much to offer and I will guide you to the 5 Places you must visit while traveling to this state.

1.      Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP)
The MoPOP will take you behind-the scenes of some of the biggest filmmakers, musicians and innovators of our time. The museum is housed in a 140,000 square foot building designed by Frank O. Gehry. In here you will be immersed through in-depth exhibits. Some exhibits currently displayed include MARVEL: Universe of Super Heroes and Scared to Death: The thrill of Horror Film. MoPOP also offers educational events for all ages like Scout Day, which is sure to be a fun time with family.

2.      Gum Wall
This is exactly what the name describes, a wall full of gum. It all started out in the 1990’s when patrons in line waiting to enter the theater stuck their gum on the wall. It has now expanded down an alleyway and the stench can be a little too much for some but it is such an intriguing display of art. Talk about something you’ve never seen before.

3.   The Ape Cave
If you like adventures and exploring, you will surely love this one. The Ape Cave is a lava tube which was formed over 2000 years ago when lava flowed down Mt. St. Helens Mountain creating this tunnel. It can take you up to an hour to complete the 1.6 mile round trip which is a fairly easy-medium level. There is also an upper cave with a longer travel time if you’re up for it.

4.      Mount Rainier
If you are up for something more extreme, visit the highest point in Washington state. At 14,411 feet above sea level, Mount Rainier is a landmark you should not miss. If you are not much of a climber you can still enjoy the scenery. There are many routes for hiking and biking or you can explore the park in your vehicle. Whatever you decide, it will not disappoint.

    Ladder Creek Falls
This gem is located in the North Cascades National Park. While Ladder Creek Falls and Gardens started out in 1920s, it was renovated in 2008 using LED bulbs and a new show using different colors and music was debuted in 2011. You can take a stroll through the gardens and enjoy this beautiful display starting at dusk and ending at midnight.
